Kwan Ho Kwak Wins PXC Bantamweight Championship Title by Unanimous Decision (Full Fight Video Included)

Korea’s Kwan Ho Kwak became the new PXC (Pacific Xtreme Combat) bantamweight champion after defeating Guam’s Kyle Aguon by unanimous decision at the PXC 51 co-main event. The Korean Top Team fighter, Kwak, went into this bout with an undefeated professional MMA record (7 – 0). After winning the TOP FC bantamweight championship title in his last outing, the man nicknamed, “Handsome” was looking to add another belt to his collection.

From round 1, Kwak looked confident as he pressed forward against the now former champion, Aguon. After a brief feel out process, the South Korean grabbed the crowd’s attention by landing superman punches and showing off spinning attack attempts. He finished the opening round by stopping a takedown attempt from his opponent.

In the second round, Kwak gave up a takedown to Aguon. Although the challenger was forced to stay in the bottom position alongside the cage for most of the round, Kwak looked relaxed as he maintained a defensive butterfly guard and avoided any serious damage.

It was in the third round, when the KTT fighter began to turn up the heat. Kwak began to land big punches that forced Aguon to shoot for takedowns, which the Korean stuffed repeatedly. Kwak also began to punish the takedown attempts with good sprawls and hard hammerfists. After defending against his opponent’s wrestling, Kwak ended up on top and went to work with ground and pound. He landed vicious elbows and bloodied Aguon. Easily defending submission attempts, Kwak continued to land more elbows and finished the round on top.

Going into round 4 of the championship bout, Kwak continued to find success as he landed kicks and punches at will while further punishing Aguon’s takedown attempts with punches. Aguon continued to look for the takedown against the cage, but only found hard elbows that bloodied his face even more.

In the fifth and final round, both fighters came out aggressive as they met in the middle and traded punches. Aguon began landing punches of his own and seemed re-energized. Aguon continued to fire off punches and began to showboat as he stalked forward with his arms outstretched. However, Kwak seemed unfazed as he marched forward with his gameplan. Few moments later, Kwak landed a huge right hand that dropped Aguon to the floor, and jumped on his stunned opponent with ground and pound. Aguon somehow recovered full guard and stayed in the fight. However, Kwak stayed aggressive with elbows and even postured up for big punches. At one point he advanced to half guard and landed hammerfists. With seconds to go, Aguon attempted an armbar submission out of desperation just before the bell.

After five hard fought rounds, South Korea’s Kwan Ho Kwak was declared the new PXC bantamweight champion as all judges gave him the unanimous decision victory. Claiming his second championship belt, the “Handsome” Kwak improves to 8 – 0, remaining undefeated in his MMA career. With 2016 off to a great start, perhaps a UFC title run is not too far off in the distance.
