The Ultimate Fighting Championship is finally going to Seoul, South Korea on November 28, 2015. This is a historic time for Korea to host the world’s biggest mixed martial arts stage. With the growing number of successful Korean fighters, I hope this event will continue to feed the fire of MMA in Korea, for both the fighters and the fans.

The UFC has announced some big fights for the fight night in Seoul. In the main event slot will be ‘The Smooth’ Benson Henderson vs ‘The Pitbull’ Thiago Alves. Benson Henderson is of Korean and African-American descent. He is a former UFC lightweight champion and recently had a successful showing as a welterweight by defeating Brandon Thatch. Smooth definitely has a big test in Alves, but I think this should be an exciting fight worthy of a UFC main event.

There will also be a heavyweight fight between MMA legend Mirko Cro Cop and Anthony Hamilton. Cro Cop made his return to the UFC stage earlier this year in a big way by avenging his loss to Gabriel Gonzaga. As a fan of Crop Cop since his days in Pride FC, it will be memorable to watch this legend step inside the Octagon in front of the Korean fans.

Also on the main card will be Korea’s own, Dong Hyun Kim taking on Jorge Masvidal. ‘The Stun Gun’ is one of the most successful fighters South Korea has produced, and rightfully deserves to be at this event. For the first time in the UFC, Kim will have a “home-field” advantage. I can’t wait to watch Dong Hyun Kim walk out and fight in front of all the Korean MMA fans in the country he represents.

Then there is also Yoshihiro Akiyama who will be meeting Alberto Mina. Yoshihiro Akiyama, also called Sung Hoon Choo (his Korean name), is a Japanese-born of Korean descent with celebrity status in South Korea. ‘Sexyama’ last made an appearance in 2014 with a unanimous decision win over Amir Sadollah. It’s about time this judo-style fighter gets the chance to fight on Korean soil.

Summary:

Benson Henderson vs Thiago Alves

Mirko Cro Cop vs Anthony Hamilton

Dong Hyun Kim vs Jorge Masvidal

Yoshihiro Akiyama (Sung Hoon Choo) vs Alberto Mina
